The first part of this weekend has been a growing experience to say the least. I'm starting to understand how Christ felt during times of rejection towards him and unfaithfulness...even though I fail Him a lot He has given me the heart to serve others and take my friendships seriously...I hope that my actions show that. God is really puting me through hard learning experiences to make me into the man that He desires and is preparing me for rejection that is on account of Him to come. Friendships that have been forged for me the past couple of years seem to be falling apart...I constantly give of myself for all my friends but they seem to not care or just want me in their life when its convenient or beneficial to them...relationships are very important to our Lord and Savior and to the Father himself.
Many times in the Old Testament God calls His chosen to repentance for the sin of living unjustly toward one another. Thru the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah God brought this constant call of the unjustices God had seen on the behalf of the people.
Jeremiah 7:1-8 1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD : 2 "Stand at the gate of the LORD's house and there proclaim this message: " 'Hear the word of the LORD , all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the LORD . 3 This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place. 4 Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the temple of the LORD , the temple of the LORD , the temple of the LORD !" 5 If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, 6 if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, 7 then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever. 8 But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
God was serious about the treatment that each one of his chosen was giving not just to each one as a people but also to those outside of the convenant relationship with Isreal. He eventually held His people accountable for these actions and others not mentioned here by destroying Judah and sending some to exile in babylon.
Christ thru the apostles in the New Testament still calls His bride to look at the interests of others before self, especially to eachother as believers. Each one of us is called to living as Christ did.
Philipians2:1-11 1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being likeminded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross! 9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Paul called each believer to live lives of humility and compassion towards one another Just as Christ did. If we desire to know Christ and are encouraged by the unity He alone brings we will live in fellowship.
Even though it hurts me to see some of those that I had once called close friends turn away from friendships made by their actions. I am always wiling with Christ help to restore those friendships. Most of all I am thankful for those of you who are there for me when I need you and for manifesting the love of Christ when I need it most. The Father will recieve honor and glory others who do not know the Savior turn to Christ as Savior and Lord by our witness of our compassion and love for one another.
May Christ dwell with you richly as you seek His face to the glory of God the Father,
